Summary

A New York Times #1 Bestseller!

For over a century, the Court of Owls has ruled Gotham City in secret - their reach inescapable, their power unstoppable。

Until they battled the Batman。

Gotham's vigilante protector managed to escape the talons of the Court with his mind and body barely intact。 The Dark Knight managed to win the battle with his deadly new aggresors, but certainly not the war。 Batman was just the first part of their conquest。 Now they have their sights set on something much bigger: Gotham City。

A critical and commercial smash, BATMAN: THE CITY OF OWLS (collecting BATMAN 8-12 and BATMAN ANNUAL #1) continues the instant-classic saga of the Dark Knight's battle with Gotham City's oldest and darkest forces from the #1 New York Times best-selling creative team of writer Scott Snyder (AMERICAN VAMPIRE) and artist Greg Capullo (Spawn), plus an array of talented guest contributors!

Well well what a dark part this was, I found the Victor story very dark in this one, damnn。So I found some more episode the original story in it but rest was same like in the first volume。I can't forget this story now。 Well well what a dark part this was, I found the Victor story very dark in this one, damnn。So I found some more episode the original story in it but rest was same like in the first volume。I can't forget this story now。 。。。more

The Court of owls is a great storyline, and this volume serves as a very good conclusion to the arc。 However, I can't justify giving this volume a high score because it's mostly made up of tie-ins that don't compliment the story or expand on it in any meaningful way。 The main issues (all the ones drawn by Greg Capullo) are excellent, and I also like the issue that Becky Cloonan drew。 The Court of owls is a great storyline, and this volume serves as a very good conclusion to the arc。 However, I can't justify giving this volume a high score because it's mostly made up of tie-ins that don't compliment the story or expand on it in any meaningful way。 The main issues (all the ones drawn by Greg Capullo) are excellent, and I also like the issue that Becky Cloonan drew。 。。。more

A semi-final good Batman titleWhile the beginning of the book is pretty dark, with the story of Alter d's father, it ends with a slightly uplifting beat after the young electrician woman meets her hero。 A semi-final good Batman titleWhile the beginning of the book is pretty dark, with the story of Alter d's father, it ends with a slightly uplifting beat after the young electrician woman meets her hero。 。。。more

A great read! Definitely gets into the grit of the plutocracy of Gotham。 The reveal towards the end was very intriguing。

"The Court of the Owls"la başlayan mistik atmosferin zamanla dağılıp biraz zorlama hissedilen sulara doğru yelken açan "The City of Owls", şok edici şaşırtmacaları ve sürükleyici hikayesi sayesinde kendini kurtarıyor。 Bruce Wayne'in hiç bahsedilmeyen kardeş hikayesini açıkçası çok yediğim söylenemez ama hikayenin gidişatı konusunda merak uyandırmayı başarıyor。 27。04。2021Londra, Birleşik KrallıkAlp Turgut "The Court of the Owls"la başlayan mistik atmosferin zamanla dağılıp biraz zorlama hissedilen sulara doğru yelken açan "The City of Owls", şok edici şaşırtmacaları ve sürükleyici hikayesi sayesinde kendini kurtarıyor。 Bruce Wayne'in hiç bahsedilmeyen kardeş hikayesini açıkçası çok yediğim söylenemez ama hikayenin gidişatı konusunda merak uyandırmayı başarıyor。 27。04。2021Londra, Birleşik KrallıkAlp Turgut 。。。more

What I really liked of the Court of Owls is that they aren't normal assasins nor super hyper mega villains with magical powers。 Their power comes from money, but this also means that it's ok to assume only those in power and with money could have the means to actually control things like secret rooms and doors on buildings, hospitals and so on。 Yes, everyone always come back on Gotham, no matter if you saw them die。 And if someone did it here, it had a very good and consistent way of doing it。 W What I really liked of the Court of Owls is that they aren't normal assasins nor super hyper mega villains with magical powers。 Their power comes from money, but this also means that it's ok to assume only those in power and with money could have the means to actually control things like secret rooms and doors on buildings, hospitals and so on。 Yes, everyone always come back on Gotham, no matter if you saw them die。 And if someone did it here, it had a very good and consistent way of doing it。 We also discover someone related to Batman could have had a very different life。。。 Again, it's ok for me that these comics are already setup on a world were Batman is the real legend, and not some hero who everyone tries to kill in any stupid attent。 Here Batman almost died, we see a suit burned, trashed, ripped。 And a Batman going through that, a Batman in need of his bat-family。There wasn't a big mystery plot。 We assumed the Talon was a killer, then we know there's more than that。 And then there is a plot point that wasn't so good for me。 But it also opens the door for another story (one not well know out there, I guess)。 。。。more

Pořád tolik čtivé jako předchozí díl, ale nezaujalo mě to tolik。 Příběh byl jakoby náhodně slepený a nenavazoval, takže mě to tolik nebavilo。

Amazing plot and storyline, outstanding art, I definitely enjoyed it more than the first one。 Looking forward to read #3。

I just think that this Batman run is not for me, you know?In paper I really like the idea of the Court of Owls and the Talons and Bruce questioning Gotham and his own identity through the investigation of this old secret organisation。 But then I read it, and I can't connect。 I get bored, the action bits are a let down every time and this paperback in particular is a bit of a drag because you can't really appreciate the full story of the Talons without reading the tie-ins and half of this volume I just think that this Batman run is not for me, you know?In paper I really like the idea of the Court of Owls and the Talons and Bruce questioning Gotham and his own identity through the investigation of this old secret organisation。 But then I read it, and I can't connect。 I get bored, the action bits are a let down every time and this paperback in particular is a bit of a drag because you can't really appreciate the full story of the Talons without reading the tie-ins and half of this volume is about random issues, okay not random, they are story-related, but they deal with characters I don't really care about。 We have an issue narrated through a letter written by Jarvis Pennyworth; the story of Harper, the girl that saved Batman in the previous volume, aaaand one about Mr。 Freeze that I actually enjoyed, but not gonna lie, I was ready to be done with this TP at that point。 I wish I could give you a long account of why I don't really like this Batman, but I really can't, it's just personal taste I guess, I'm not interested and I just don't connect。I own one more volume so I think I'll re-read it but won't be continuing with it。 It's just anticlimactic to me, even with the mystery of Lincoln March's story, I was never engaged, never excited to find out the truth。 Ugh, I wanted to like it as much as everyone else。 。。。more

I really enjoyed this as the conclusion to the Court of Owls story arc。 However, I did not realize that only around half the book was the actual conclusion to the arc, with the other half consisting of three short stories。 My personal favorite of these short stories is the one about Jervis Pennyworth, which is the biggest tie-in to the court of owls arc。 While I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't help but think that the first half of this book could have been a part of the first volume of the I really enjoyed this as the conclusion to the Court of Owls story arc。 However, I did not realize that only around half the book was the actual conclusion to the arc, with the other half consisting of three short stories。 My personal favorite of these short stories is the one about Jervis Pennyworth, which is the biggest tie-in to the court of owls arc。 While I really enjoyed this book, I couldn't help but think that the first half of this book could have been a part of the first volume of the Scott Snyder Batman run。 My main problem with the actual Court of Owls arc ending around the half way point of this book is that I finished the actual arc, then put the book down in order to read the rest of it the next day since it seemed as if I was only halfway through the book。 The arc ends on a bit of a cliffhanger, so I was expecting more of the story when I picked up the book again the next day, I was slightly disappointed when the other half of the book did not have the satisfying conclusion that I thought it would。 This arc ends on a cliffhanger that doesn't even really seem like one, until you realize "Oh! I guess it actually ended a while ago!"Other than that, this was a pretty satisfying conclusion to the Court of Owls story。 。。。more

Good: The beginning picks up where the court of owls left off and is amazing at creating a paranoid claustrophobic atmosphere。 As the talons, all invade the Wayne manor and Bruce has nowhere to hide。 The issue has plenty of action and interesting to see how Batman deals with it。 The artwork is good once again。 Bad: I'm sorry I just did not like the side story of Alfred's father and the horrible story they give for spoiler (Bruce's possible brother)。 This brings me to the horrible fight scene aga Good: The beginning picks up where the court of owls left off and is amazing at creating a paranoid claustrophobic atmosphere。 As the talons, all invade the Wayne manor and Bruce has nowhere to hide。 The issue has plenty of action and interesting to see how Batman deals with it。 The artwork is good once again。 Bad: I'm sorry I just did not like the side story of Alfred's father and the horrible story they give for spoiler (Bruce's possible brother)。 This brings me to the horrible fight scene against the iron man looking villain who talked annoyingly and brought about massive explosions they shouldn't survive and right by the engine of a flying 747。 I'm sorry but WHAT!!!! What happened to the tinier more personal action beats we were getting in Wayne manor earlier。 I don't need this pointless action!!!! The side story with the electrician girl felt pointless and I know it adds to Gotham being character, but it felt absolutely pointless! Now to deal with Mr。 Freeze who is rocking no sleeves and one strand of hair in my opinion (sarcasm)。 His final story "First Snow" was decent but I just couldn't get behind how evil he was。 Like it felt unnecessary and took away any relatability to the character and I don't want to see this version appear in the future。 Overall opinion: I enjoyed the previous Court of Owls story much better!!! This one didn't feel like a satisfying conclusion to the arc and had so much pointless action and random characters that I was feeling bored and unengaged。 I hope on rereads this will improve, but right now it's my least favorite from the Snyder/Capullo run。 Here's my ranking: I'll update when I finish all books1) Zero Year secret city2) Death of the family 3) Court of Owls 4) Last Knight on Earth 5) City of Owls 。。。more

Of the three volumes in the Owls saga (Court of Owls, The Night of the Owls, and City of Owls), this was probably my favorite。 Intrigue with the Wayne family, the Pennyworth family, and some new faces。 This closes out the saga I think, but there is a tiny bit of overlap with The Night of the Owls, like the Mr。 Freeze and Pennyworth stories。 Great read though。

This was fun, as the talons are released and they all come to the Wayne manor and so its upto Bruce and Alfred to fight them, and also Bruce has the Bat armor and its badass and then there is the whole ordeal with Lincoln march re-emerging and we find his real identity and this new nemesis Owlman and how he connects to Bruce and is scintillating and pops up so many questions。 The fight between them is easily the best part and the threat of Court of owls still persists and whatever happened to Br This was fun, as the talons are released and they all come to the Wayne manor and so its upto Bruce and Alfred to fight them, and also Bruce has the Bat armor and its badass and then there is the whole ordeal with Lincoln march re-emerging and we find his real identity and this new nemesis Owlman and how he connects to Bruce and is scintillating and pops up so many questions。 The fight between them is easily the best part and the threat of Court of owls still persists and whatever happened to Bruce's brother and Alfred's father Jarvis? I was mislead into reading The Night of the Owls as the second volume into this series and I was disappointed and didn't have a proper conclusion。 I had no idea it was a cross-over, I had never read a cross-over before and, after this, I would never read one again。 So I was very surprised to see there is a lot of repeated content from Night, but also some cut panels from the core story。 Overall, this is a much better continuation and if you are just starting remember to read City, not Night。 How I was mislead into reading The Night of the Owls as the second volume into this series and I was disappointed and didn't have a proper conclusion。 I had no idea it was a cross-over, I had never read a cross-over before and, after this, I would never read one again。 So I was very surprised to see there is a lot of repeated content from Night, but also some cut panels from the core story。 Overall, this is a much better continuation and if you are just starting remember to read City, not Night。 However, I still don't like the after story with Alfred's father and I don't get how the chapter with the crafty electrician ties into the Owls saga。 。。。more

Lackluster ending to an otherwise great storyline。 The first half of this volume concludes the main arc for the Court of Owls, while the second half is about the aftermath where Batman ties up loose ends。 The 2 comics in the second half were generic and didn’t add any meaningful insight behind the Court of Owls。 One centers around a sister/brother duo who try to make ends meet in a bad part of Gotham。 The girl, Harper is queer, and her brother Cullen is gay。 While I love the idea of LGBT represe Lackluster ending to an otherwise great storyline。 The first half of this volume concludes the main arc for the Court of Owls, while the second half is about the aftermath where Batman ties up loose ends。 The 2 comics in the second half were generic and didn’t add any meaningful insight behind the Court of Owls。 One centers around a sister/brother duo who try to make ends meet in a bad part of Gotham。 The girl, Harper is queer, and her brother Cullen is gay。 While I love the idea of LGBT representation in general, and the fact that Batman sees them as allies, the story itself seems misplaced。 If this were a one off comic, it would be fine, but again doesn’t add anything meaningful behind the Court of Owls。 The final comic entails Dr。 Freeze getting duped by the Court of Owls and seeking to find Nora。 The comic focuses on retelling Dr。 Freeze’s origin story, which portrays him as delusional rather than misguided in his attempts to bring Nora back to life。 I did not enjoy this retelling of his origin story。 I think Dr。 Freeze is one of the best characters in DC comics and I think it’s a good thing to show men who care deeply about the women in their lives。 Clearly, Dr。 Freeze is angry and misguided, but he still cares for Nora and there is a sense of compassion for him and why he was led down a villainous path through his fear of not letting Nora go。 I think changing his storyline in a single comic was crude and tasteless。 It was fine as is, and again the comic didn’t really add anything into understanding the Court of Owls。 。。。more
